ChildSafeMedia was invited for an awareness talk at the General Body Meeting of Lions Club, Fort St. George, Chennai. Around 30+ members were present for the meet including 3 Zonal & Regional Chairmen of Lions Club.
Dr. Deepa Duraiswamy, our Founder and CEO, was one of the two guest speakers. She spoke about the problems of media impact on child development and the solutions that ChildSafeMedia offered parents and educators. The group concurred with the speaker and agreed that this was a real problem they all grappled with, as parents and grandparents.
Mr. Rajesh Joshi, Regional Chairman also wanted to highlight the role that parents had to play in safeguarding their children. He was happy to learn about our MediaParenting Workshop for parents. Mrs. Usha Bora, President of the Club, promised to implement these programs in her local schools. Zonal chairmen, Mr. Shanmugam, Mrs. Lulu Thampan and Mr. Badri expressed their agreement and promised to take this forward in their respective zones.
There were a few private requests from parents to check if such programs are being conducted even outside the schools for their kids to participate! A bunch of impressed and enthusiastic kids enquired how older siblings could help younger kids be aware of media.
Overall, it was a promising meeting and ChildSafeMedia looks forward to working more closely with Lions Club in its wonderful activities. Thank you, Lions Club!
